Update: Disappearing Blogs

It has been quite a learning lesson having ALL my blogs removed from my dashboard.
I am still waiting for an e-mail from Blogger. They have reinstated some blogs for
other bloggers who were going through this.

I was told that they will no longer let you monetize your blogs with ads and those that do have ads on them are being removed from their dashboards.

From what I see you can only have ads from Google Adsense on them. To me this seems all wrong. Most of us who have/had blogs did have more ads than just Google Adsense. It is
a known fact that you will not earn money from these ads if no one clicks on them, and most people got so used to them that they would ignore them. Only Google was making money off them. Now they have gotten so greedy they don't want any ads on these blogs other than their own.

We should have seen this from the begining. Now there are many of us who have worked hard and long to make these blogs that are without any way of getting to them.

Yes, Google has the control and they are using it to their fullest.

It would have been nice if they had sent us notice so we could have moved them to a different host or even taken off the other ads. But Blogger just started making them unaccessible. Now there are lots of us who are in the forum asking how or if we will ever get them back.

What really makes me mad is that they don't just disable the ones that have ads other than Adsense on them but any and all that you have on their server. I had a new one that was just weeks old and there were no ads at all on it, but it too is now gone from my dashboard.

The Mystery of the Disappearing Blogs continues...........

I don't know about anybody else, but what I make off of adsense is not worth noticing. As in I have never made payout, and I do not foresee ever making payout either.

Of course, it makes me wonder what they consider to be an ad. Many of my posts are about the things that I am currently writing. Call it an ad for myself.

Thanks Morgan for dropping by.
I think Google has noticed that they aren't getting a lot of clicks on these ads and this is just their way of saying "Adsense ads only." That way the visitor is more likely to cick on one of their ads because they don't have other ads competing with them on the blogs.
They will soon be getting rid of the blogs that are what they call spam blogs. You know the ones that are asking people to join other programs like the paid to....programs. There are thousands of them at blogspot.I Can hardly wait to see what happens next.
BTW Your blog is one of the good one. There are so many redirect ones that lead to porn sites when looking at blogs using the "next blog" button. I guess the bot that crawls these don't get redirected.

If it is true that Google is deleting blogs that have ANY other ads besides AdSense, then this is definitely not good news!

I was thinking about eventually setting up some niche Blogger sites around long tail keywords, using PLR content for the posts, and then monetizing with Chitika while tracking the traffic stats through Google Analytics. Chitika and other non-contextual advertising networks are supposed to be compatible with Google AdSense; perhaps Google is simply penalizing sites that are running ads that directly compete with theirs such as Yahoo Publisher Network? And what about affiliate links (for example Clickbank, Amazon, etc.)? Are they going to ban those too? If they are really banning ALL other ads, our monetization options will obviously be more limited.

Admittedly, I have not really used Blogger much at all. My main site at Karlonia.com uses WordPress on my own domain, which I have found to be a much more powerful and versatile setup, not to mention the fact that our monetization options are virtually unlimited. The only Blogger sites I have are little one-page "placeholder" sites that I took over from other people who had apparently abandoned them.
